Educated at the Bronx High School of Science, Columbia and Harvard, Dr. Sebag is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on vitreous having authored 3 books, 87 peer-reviewed articles, 75 chapters, and 79 letters, editorials, and reviews on diseases, drug injection therapy, laser treatments and surgery of the vitreous, macula, and retina. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK), Dr. Sebag received the Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 1994 and the AAO Senior Career Achievemnet award in 2018. In 2006 he was inducted as a member of the American Ophthalmological Society and chaired the program committee in 2013. In 2010 he was designated as a fellow of ARVO, the world’s premier eye research organization. Dr. Sebag is Editor-in-Chief of the definitive textbook on vitreous published by Springer in 2014. In 2019 he delivered the inaugural Robert Machemer lecture to the European Society of Ophthalmology.
