Biography
Dr. Brendan Girschek MD FRCS(C) FACS has over a decade of private medical and surgical retina experience and exceptional surgical skills. He is an oral examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, a contributing writer for the Review of Optometry and Ophthalmology Management journals and a reviewer for the Retinal Physician journal. Dr. Girschek is also a lecturer with the Academy of Ophthalmic Education. Dr Girschek has presented at multiple state optometric society meetings as well as, most recently, at the American Academy of Optometry Retina SIG in 2023 as well as internationally at the Global Retina Summit in Canada in 2022.
Dr. Girschek performed his ophthalmology residency at the Louisiana State University/Ochsner Clinic Foundation, his internship with the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in Internal Medicine, and his fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Tennessee, Charles Retina Institute under the direction of Dr. Steve Charles.
Dr. Girschek is dual Board Certified in Canada and in the US (American Board of Ophthalmology and Royal College of Surgeons of Canada). He is also a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Surgeons.
