Biography

Dr. Lisa J. Faia, originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, received her Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) from the George Washington University in Washington D.C. and her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. She completed her internship at UCLA – VA Greater Los Angeles Internal Medicine Program and residency in Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. She then went on to fellowship training at the National Eye Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where she completed a two-year fellowship in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis and Medical Retina. While there, she participated in both clinical and basic science research while completing her clinical duties. From there, she completed a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Associated Retinal Consultants, William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan.
Dr. Faia joined as staff in 2011 at the Associated Retinal Consultants in Royal Oak, MI and is a board-certified ophthalmologist with special interest and expertise in the surgical and medical management of uveitis as well as vitreoretinal diseases in both the adult and pediatric populations. Currently, she is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Pan-American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, American Uveitis Society, American Medical Association, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Retina Society, Club Jules-Gonin, and Association in Research of Vision and Ophthalmology. She is involved in a wide array of clinical studies in ocular inflammation and retinal diseases. Dr. Faia has presented nationally and internationally on the topics of ocular inflammation and uveitis and retina and authored and/or co-authored multiple peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews on these subjects.
