Biography
Doctor Scartozzi is a retina surgeon/ophthalmologist, teacher, and researcher with years of experience. He has trained at top institutions such as Johns Hopkins Medical School, Wills Eye Hospital, and Doheny Eye Institute. Doctor Scartozzi is a Connecticut retina and macula specialist with a national reputation, skilled in the treatment of macular degeneration, macular holes and puckers, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments and tears, floaters, retinal vein occlusions, complications of cataract surgery, uveitis, sutureless small gauge vitrectomy surgery, eye laser surgery, and the use of Eylea, Lucentis, Avastin, Ozurdex, Jetrea, macular eye vitamins, and other eye therapies. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Clinical Research. He is a published clinical researcher and a scientific manuscript reviewer. Doctor Scartozzi was a recipient of a National Eye Institute Travel Grant, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowship, National Science Foundation Scholarship, and Barry Goldwater Scholarship. He has been a Principal Investigator for the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network, and is a Certified Principal Investigator with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
