Biography

Dr. Bloom completed his undergraduate degree in his home state at The Ohio State University where he graduated with an honors diploma. After his time at Ohio State, he completed his medical school at The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was inducted into the prestigious Sigma Sigma Phi National Honors Society and received the TOUCH Humanistic award for his volunteer and service contributions to his community. After finishing his internship at Mount Sinai in New York City, he completed ophthalmology residency training at Kettering Health Network in Ohio where he was elected and served as Chief Resident. Following residency, he matched with the Retina Institute of California for his two-year vitreoretinal surgical retina fellowship, where he trained under nationally and internationally respected clinicians and surgeons.

Dr. Bloom's research interests include treatment of diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment surgery, macular degeneration and ocular infections. He has participated in multiple clinical trials and has written over 10 original peer-reviewed articles, major reviews, case reports and book reviews. He has presented his work at multiple national conferences. He has multiple ongoing projects as well.
