Biography
Dr. Martin Thomley is a native of Birmingham, AL and summa cum laude graduate of Auburn University. He attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine and was the recipient of the Merit Scholarship. In addition, he received the Scholastic Excellence Award and was a member of the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society. He subsequently trained at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL for residency in Ophthalmology. While at Bascom Palmer, Dr. Thomley excelled and served as Chief Resident and Instructor, and also completed Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery. For the past 20 years, Dr. Thomley has been serving on faculty at University of Alabama at Birmingham seeing patients while also training residents and retina fellows. He received the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award and has also been honored with the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award.
