On-Demand Webinar: Intravitreal Injections, Extended Ophthalmoscopy, and Avoiding RAC and ZPIC Audits

Description

Recent National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and other coding issues have caused a lot of stress and confusion for the retina community. This webinar will provide clarity on several timely retina coding, billing, and documentation topics that have contributed to delayed reimbursement, Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) and Zone Program Integrity Contractor (ZPIC) audits, and lost sleep.

After attending this event, you will be able to apply appropriate codes for intravitreal injections and extended ophthalmoscopy to obtain correct reimbursement and avoid denial of claims and/or triggering an audit.

Webinar topics:

  • Intravitreal injection coding—including when and how to unbundle an established office visit using the -25 modifier, bilateral coding, proper documentation, and case examples
  • Extended ophthalmoscopy coding—including the definition of initial vs subsequent, bilateral coding, proper documentation, a case example, and clarification of when to unbundle when billing on the same day as an injection
  • How to avoid being targeted by RAC and ZPIC audits
  • How to properly document wasted medication

Thiswebinar is presented by Joy Woodke, COE, BA, OCS, an Ophthalmic Coding Specialist and retina practice administrator at Oregon Eye Consultants, LLC. Ms. Woodke has spoken extensively on retina coding and billing, including presentations at the 2013 ASRS Practice Management Issues Seminar, American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) CODEquest courses, and AAO webinars.
