The National Eye Institute estimates that 15 million Americans have some form of age-related macular degeneration. According to the Centers for Disease Control, between the years 2005 and 2008, 4.2 million people age 40 or older who were diagnosed with diabetes also had diabetic retinopathy. These 2 retinal diseases need everyone's attention.
